Wizkid wasn’t talking about you - Dj Tunez to Nigerian rappers - wizkid

According to the Starboy Entertainment founder, the Hip Hop artistes mostly rap on the same beats, and they have similar styles.

Wizkid also took to social media and said Nigerian rappers are non-rappers who lack development and he went on to list the South Africa’s Nasty C and Ghana’s Sarkodie as the ‘real rappers’ in Africa.

Subsequently, Wizkid received backlash mostly from Nigerian rap artistes who either responded to him online or released diss raps.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Hip Hop artiste, Blaqbonez has expressed disappointment in the Afrobeats star over the same comment.

Blaqbonez said he is not disappointed in what Wizkid said during the interview, rather what got him upset was how the Joro crooner subsequently trolled rappers on social media.

He described as condescending and degrading the attacks Wizzy targeted at artistes in the Hip Hop genre.

He wrote; ”The last few days had me reflecting, looking back at how far I’ve come, the Wins and the Losses, whatever rap may or may not be, it got me this, everything i have, the cult like fans who by far are the best part of everything.

I said that to say i’m disappointed, everyone knows I’m a big wizkid fan, maybe even a d**k rider on twitter but rn I’m disappointed, i am, I can’t hide my emotions, I wasn’t even mad at the magazine article, those are conversations I’ve even had behind the scenes, but the actions that followed can’t be defended, heavily degrading and undeserved but I’d keep doing my thing, carrying the most bashed and the most attacked genre on my back, showing the world what a Nigerian rapper looks like.

I’d keep dropping these hits, classic albums, selling out my shows, however far it takes me I’m good with it long as i can feed my family….”

Meanwhile, On Air Personality, Daddy Freeze has said music superstar, Wizkid is almost on the same level with late Afrobeats legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The media personality stated this in a video shared on his social media page while wading into the feud between Wiz and rappers in the industry.

Wiz also said Nigerian rappers as non-rappers who lack development and went on to list the South Africa’s Nasty C and Ghana’s Sarkodie as the ‘real rappers’ in Africa.

In reaction, Freeze opined that for Wizkid to have made that comment, it comes from a place of objectivity soaked in experience.

He said the Ojuelegba crooner has achieved a lot and should be taken seriously whenever he gives constructive criticisms.

The OAP who aid he is backing Big Wiz further said only a handful of artistes in Nigeria can boast of the achievements attached to Wizkid’s name in the music industry.

Daddy Freeze said; “When it comes to music in Nigeria as a whole, Wizkid is almost on the level of Fela then. What he (Wizkid) has been able to do, not many people can achieve it, when he says something, hear him out, there is one thing in me that makes me different from many people I might not like you but if you speak the truth I will support you…

The truth is the truth and it will set you free. When you see the truth and started ignoring the truth because of the person carrying the truth we become like Nigerian politicians, all of them are the same but they will make one look worse than the rest of them.”

In other news, Nigerian kid comedian and content creator, Kiriku, whose real name is Victory Enorense, has revealed why he bought a new car for his father.

He said his dad’s car was old and always giving him issues so he discussed with his uncle, Umbrella Boy and they decided to change it for him.

According to Kiriku, when they were still up and coming in the online content creation industry, they both agreed to buy a car for his father once they start making money.

For the skit-maker, getting a new car for his dad was him fulfilling a promise he made to himself.

Kiriku, popularly known for his slang, ‘Abeg shift’, made the revelation during an interview as he talked about his personal life and future plans.

Kiriku said; “His car was no longer good, and we decided to buy a new one for him. We did that because the old car was giving him issues. Me and my uncle decided that immediately we started making money, we would get him (my dad) a car.”

He further talked about his early interest in comedy and how Emmanuella motivated him to become a skit-maker when he was four years old.

According to the preteen, he struggled to memorise his lines when he was just starting, so his uncle made him realise that he cannot master it all at once.

But that is now a thing of the past because Umbrella Boy taught him how to learn his lines and with time he became good at it.
